A. Faith
Development:
Catholic parents
have a serious responsibility to help their children grow in faith
by the example of their own prayer life and their weekly participation
at Saturday evening or Sunday Mass. The school provides parent orientation
and student preparation for the reception of the Sacraments of Reconciliation
and Holy Eucharist. As first educators of their children, parental
involvement is expected in preparing the children for these Sacraments.
It is the duty of the parents to encourage their children in continued
participation in the sacramental life. A monthly Family Mass is
celebrated on the last Saturday of each month at 6 P.M.

B. Attendance
and Absence:
- State of
Hawaii Compulsory Attendance Law ~ All children who have arrived
at the age of 6 and who will not have arrived the age of 18 on
or before December 31 of any school year shall attend school in
accordance with the law oh Hawaii (HRS 298-9 and Reg. 4140.1).
The parents are responsible for seeing that their children attend
school. It is the school's responsibility to keep accurate records
and to monitor excuses for tardiness or absence. Travel plans
and/or vacations of parents and family should be made with the
understanding that the children must be in attendance at school.
- Absence
- If a
student is unable to attend school, the parents must notify
the school in the morning.
- Students
returning to school after an absence are required to bring
a written note signed by their parents to their homeroom teacher
and other subject teachers; a telephone message alone is not
acceptable. The note is important for the legal records.
- In case
of absences, parents should make arrangements to obtain assignments.
Unsatisfactory work due to repeated absences could result
in a failure on the student's evaluation.
- A student
who has been absent because of a contagious disease must have
a doctor's permit before he/she is readmitted to class. Parents
will be notified concerning students who give indications
of a contagious condition such as skin eruptions, flu, measles,
pink eye, etc. These students will be advised to see a doctor
and have a permission slip before they are allowed to return
to class.

given a calendar of activities at the beginning of the school
year. It is the parent's responsibility to be aware of the schedules
that will call for early dismissal on half days for faculty meetings,
