St. Anthony School, 640 Puuhale Road, Honolulu, Hawaii, was opened on September 2, 1928, the second parochial school in the Hawaiian Islands under the auspices of the local clergy. The Sisters of the Maryknoll Congregation staffed the opening class of 130 students. In 1943, a significant event in its history came when St. Anthony School received the first minuteman flag, the first school to receive that award in the territory.

In 1947, the construction of a new three-story building was begun to upgrade its physical plant and facilities for a better instructional atmosphere. In 1971, the Sisters of the Religious of the Virgin Mary from the Philippines succeeded the Maryknoll Sisters as administrators and faculty. In 1984, the Kindergarten was added to the co-educational classes offered from grades 1 to 8.

The school's continuing quest for quality and relevance directed the unfolding development of St. Anthony School. In 1992, an intensive self-survey was conducted using the WASC/WCEA guidelines. In 1993, St. Anthony School got its first stamp of academic excellence when it was granted a six-year accredited status.
An active Parent-Teachers Guild has supported the goals of the school since its inception. A School Board of nine lay men and women has served as an advisory body to the Pastor and the Principal. Student organizations: SAS Choir, Student Council, Altar Servers, Mission Crusade, MIDES Club, Sports League, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Music Ministry and Hula Class have been organized over the years.

In 1996, the Department of Human Services of the State of Hawaii granted St. Anthony School a certificate of approval to operate an After-School Care program to provide after-school opportunities for the students.

In 1997, St. Anthony School ventured into its three-year technology project which included a computer laboratory equipped with modern technology; faculty training for computer instruction and the integration of technology into classroom instruction; and computer education as integral part of the curriculum.

In 1999, Focus on Learning was the focus of the accreditation process conducted by the WASC/WCEA accrediting committees. St. Anthony School earned a full accreditation status of another six years from 1999 - 2005.

St. Anthony School continued its technological advancement. In 2001, all computers in the computer laboratory and classrooms were hooked to the internet. In 2002, it launched its homepage in the web: www.saintanthonyhonolulu.com or www.saintanthonyhonolulu.org and maintained to integrate information technology in its vision and mission of education and transformation.

True to its commitment to serve the community through quality Christian Education, St. Anthony School continues to tirelessly pursue the ideals set forth by its Vision, Mission, and Schoolwide Learning Expectations. The Pastor/Director, the Associate Pastor, the Principal, the Teaching Staff of four Religious Sisters and seven Lay Teachers, and four professional Support Staff comprise the present administration, faculty and staff of St. Anthony school.
